Meet Dr. Jarrod Harrall D.O.
Dr. Jarrod Harrall is a board-certified sports medicine physician with nearly two decades of experience caring for athletes at every level — from college programs to Major League Baseball to Team USA and the Olympic Games. He now brings that same caliber of care to Colorado Springs at Maverick Sports Medicine, where he focuses exclusively on non-surgical treatment: ultrasound-guided injections, orthobiologics, and regenerative medicine techniques.
Training
Dr. Harrall earned his medical degree from Oklahoma State University, completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Missouri–Kansas City — where he was named Resident of the Year — and completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Virginia Tech, earning his Certificate of Additional Qualification in Primary Care Sports Medicine through the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM). He is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine.
A National Career in Sports Medicine
Dr. Harrall currently serves as a Sports Medicine Physician at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He served in this role once before, from 2016 to 2021, and during that time was also a physician with the Team USA Medical Network and the National Governing Body physician for USA Wrestling, USA Swimming, and USA Boxing (serving as ringside physician). In 2021, he was selected as a Team USA Physician for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo.
Over his career, he has also served as:
-
Organizational Team Physician for the Milwaukee Brewers (2015–2021) and the Kansas City Royals (2010–2012)
-
Head Team Physician for the University of Kansas Athletics (2021–2025), Colorado College (2013–2021), and Rockhurst University (2010–2012)
-
Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Kansas Health System (2021–2025), and Assistant Professor of Human Physiology and Nutrition at the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs (2020–2021)
Recognition
In 2020, Dr. Harrall received the Jack C. Hughston Award for National Sports Physician of the Year, presented at the AAPT/AASPT National Conference. He was named a Colorado Springs Top Doc in Primary Care Sports Medicine by Colorado Style Magazine in 2018, and has appeared as a sports medicine consultant on ESPN Radio and Fox 21's "Live and Local."
He is a frequent lecturer at national conferences — including the AAFP's Annual Musculoskeletal Course and Sports Medicine National Course, USA Swimming's Sports Medicine & Science Conference, and Team USA's Grand Rounds series — on topics ranging from orthobiologics and joint injections to concussion management and chronic joint pain.
