How Care Works at Maverick Sports Medicine

Step 1: The Sports Medicine Consultation

Every new patient starts with a Consultation — a focused, two-visit process designed to get you real answers before you commit to anything further.

Visit One: Dr. Harrall reviews your medical history, current records, and a detailed intake questionnaire, then performs a hands-on examination. If additional labs or imaging would sharpen the diagnosis, he'll order them at this visit.

Visit Two: Once any additional workup is back, you'll return to go over the findings. You'll leave with a written diagnosis and a clear, individualized treatment plan — something you keep, regardless of what you decide to do next.

The Consultation is purely diagnostic — it doesn't include treatment, and it doesn't commit you to anything beyond these two visits. It's simply the clearest way to find out what's actually going on and what your options are, from a physician who specializes in exactly this.

Step 2: Ongoing Care Membership

If you'd like Dr. Harrall to manage your care going forward — including ultrasound-guided injections, diagnostic ultrasound, medication management, and coordination with other providers — you'll enroll in the Ongoing Care Membership. This is where treatment happens: as a member, you have access to unlimited visits as clinically appropriate, direct communication between appointments, and a consistent physician who already knows your case from your Consultation.

Membership is billed monthly or annually, with a discount for paying annually up front. There's no long-term contract beyond the annual term, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice.

Why the two-step model?

We built it this way so you're never paying an ongoing fee before you actually know whether Maverick Sports Medicine is the right fit for your condition. The Consultation lets you and Dr. Harrall make that decision together, based on a real diagnostic workup — not a rushed first visit. Only once you have a clear plan do you decide whether ongoing membership makes sense for you.

A different model, built around better care — not around insurance rules.

If you've called around to sports medicine clinics in Colorado Springs, you've probably noticed that most non-surgical treatments — ultrasound-guided injections, PRP, and other regenerative techniques — aren't covered by insurance anyway. That's not a Maverick Sports Medicine policy. It's an industry-wide reality: most major insurers, including Medicare, classify these treatments as elective or investigational, which means they're excluded from coverage regardless of which clinic you visit.

So we made a decision: instead of running a practice that spends hours per patient fighting with insurance companies for services they won't pay for anyway, we built a clinic entirely around the patient in front of us.

What that means for you:

  • No surprise bills. You'll know your price before you're treated — not months later in a statement from an insurance company you've never heard of.

  • No referrals, no prior authorizations, no waiting. You call, we see you. If you need an ultrasound-guided injection, we don't need to convince a claims adjuster that it's necessary first.

  • More time with your provider. Practices that bill insurance often need higher patient volume to make the math work, which usually means shorter visits. We don't have that constraint.

  • Straightforward pricing you can plan around. We'll walk you through the total cost of your treatment plan upfront, so you can decide what's right for you without guessing.

A note on value, not just price:

When people compare our pricing to "free" insurance visits, it's worth remembering that most non-surgical regenerative treatments aren't billed to insurance at any clinic — including ones that otherwise accept your plan. The real comparison patients should make is between the total cost of a course of PRP or a guided injection versus the cost of surgery: the procedure itself, facility fees, anesthesia, physical therapy, and the lost time away from work and training. For many of our patients, treating the problem early and directly ends up being both the faster and more affordable path.
